Sustainability

A family-owned company, Bona is dedicated to the world community and our future. Such a long term commitment to innovation requires a sustainable philosophy that considers living environments both indoors and outdoors. We continually strive for effective products with ever-lessening environmental impact.

Bona's Commitment to Our Shared Environment

When it comes to the environment and floor care, Bona leads the pack.

Industry First

Bona was the first manufacturer in the industry to offer a complete hardwood floor finishing and care system that is GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified®. This certification assures professionals and consumers unsurpassed durability, beauty and environmental responsibility for hardwood floors.

Safe

Bona waterborne floor cleaners are GREENGUARD Gold Certified and safe for floors, families and our planet. GREENGUARD Gold Certification offers stricter certification criteria, considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals (such as children and the elderly) and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. It is referenced by both The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building Rating System.

Breathe Easier

Bona Free & Simple® Hardwood Floor Cleaner is now Certified asthma & allergy friendly™ by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). The formula is gentle on allergy sufferers and is hypoallergenic, free of dyes and scents and non-allergenic. Bona waterborne finishes have no toxic fumes and low VOC's so they are healthier for your family, pets and the environment.

Additionally, there is no need to vacate your home during the finishing process due to fast dry times and easy water clean-up. Our Swedish waterborne technology highlights the true beauty and elegance of the wood and provides the ultimate in durability. It, too, is GREENGUARD Certified.

No Dust!

The Bona® Atomic Dust Containment System is the most forward thinking hardwood floor innovation in the industry. This powerful system evacuates airborne dust generated by the sanding process (no more plastic on the furniture!).

EPA/Safer Choice has not independently identified, that is, via chemical analysis, the ingredients in the product formula, nor evaluated any of Bona’s non-ingredient claims. EPA/Safer Choice provides its evaluation only as to the product’s human health and environmental characteristics, as specified in the Standard and based on currently available information and scientific understanding.

About GREENGUARD

GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that establishes standards and testing for indoor products. Its goal is to improve public health by helping manufacturers build safer, better products. These products will not pollute the air with harmful levels of dangerous chemicals or particulates.

The GREENGUARD Children & Schools Product Certification Program focuses on low-emitting building materials, furnishings, and finish systems used in education environments (daycares and K-12). It evaluates the sensitive nature of school populations and unique building characteristics, for the most stringent product emissions criteria to date. Products certified under GREENGUARD Children & Schools use two criteria for low-emitting materials: The U.S. Green Building Commission's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system for schools, and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools' (CHPS) Best Practices Manual.
